Brightlife - Where Are You Now?
Brightlife played at Chain Reaction spreading out sounds from their first CD entitled, Where Are You Now?  Lead vocalist and guitarist, Reed Calhoun, sings with great maturity and harmony, along with Tim Lopez, the second lead guitar and vocals.  Shawn Dailey is the bass guitarist and Nick Rucker is the drummer.  For those of you who dont know Brightlife check them out at (www.brightlifemusic.com ), they are currently looking for a new drummer.
Brightlife performed first of course not doing too badly.  Most people at this show were there to see MAE.  From the looks at some faces, many werent too amused by Brightlife, but a few were into the music.  They started off with songs, one chance, see me now, never, where are you now?, and a new song to be released on their new ep.  Good job Brightlife.  They definitely have potential and I feel that over time this band will have a bigger fan base.
Next was MAE and thats when most people started to crowd up to the front, so unfortunately I wasnt able to see them as well or take any reasonable pictures.  But MAE rocked!  It is always good to see a band you love and hear them play just as well as their cd-MAE sounded even better.  Dave Gimenez has an extraordinary voice and hits every high note to perfection.  One of the most entertaining moments is when Rob, the keyboard player, started to rock hard on the keyboard and occasionally went nuts in a few songs.  I never knew someone could make the keyboard look so awesome.  The only thing that bothered me was Mark, the bass player, he just kind ofstood there not rockin very well.  He looked like a statue with a bass guitar.  But other than that it was an incredible performance.  For all of you MAE fans, be sure to check out Saying Never, at (
www.sayingnever.com ).  Theyre another Virginia band with similar sounds as MAE.
The next 2 bands that played was, Vendetta Red and Elliot, unfortunately I didnt get to see them.
